Germany’s bicycle market saw both production and sales rise in the first half of 2026. Compared with the same period a year earlier, production of conventional bicycles increased by 6%, while unit sales climbed by almost 10%. That was a stronger sales gain than in the e-bike segment.

E-bike production rose by more than 4% and sales by around 2%. Exports of bicycles and e-bikes together were more than 6% higher than a year earlier. Dealers are still ordering cautiously, although much of the earlier excess stock has been cleared.

New-bike sales are only part of the industry picture. Dealer workshops remain busy, while a shortage of skilled staff makes it harder to meet demand for repairs and servicing. The recovery therefore also shows up in workshop activity, not just in the number of new bicycles sold.
