European Cycling Industries welcomed nine new members in August. Alongside bicycle brands, the group includes a shared mobility operator, a fleet management service and an organisation that trains cargo bike riders. The mix illustrates how much industry work continues after a bicycle leaves the factory.

One newcomer, Brazilian brand OGGI, produces bicycles at its factory in Manaus. The association describes aluminium and steel frames, powder coating and automated wheel assembly lines. At another stage of the chain, Shift Transit operates shared mobility fleets, while Fleetiz offers software for tracking, maintaining and managing such fleets.

The membership also includes Just Ride the Bike, which authored a UK cargo bike rider training standard. Manufacturing, day-to-day operations and rider skills are different tasks, but each can help make cycling a dependable transport option. The industry’s development therefore includes both the bicycle itself and the services built around it.
