Prepare warm soapy water, soft brushes and clean cloths. Rinse with a water bottle or a wide, low-pressure hose spray. A forceful jet is unnecessary for this job.
Use a soft brush or cloth on the frame; a firmer brush is for drivetrain grime. After cleaning, check that wheels turn freely and brakes do not rub. Squeaks or a gritty feeling in bearings warrant further inspection.
Dry the bicycle with a towel to spot remaining soap and inspect the frame and components. Finish by rinsing the brushes and cleaning the repair stand.
