A cycling trip can begin at one station and finish at another, with the train covering part of the distance. That opens up more routes, but carrying the bicycle needs a place in the plan. A luggage ticket is required for a bicycle; a passenger ticket alone is not enough.
A sticker on the door identifies carriages with bicycle racks. If a carriage has no racks, the bicycle must be placed where it does not obstruct other passengers. Before boarding, secure loose bags and be ready to move the bike to its designated area. That makes a short stop at a small station less rushed.
A large group needs extra planning. When more than 15 cyclists travel together, the operator asks them to register the trip 48 hours in advance. Even with a smaller group, it helps to reach the platform in good time and locate the carriage with bicycle space. A smooth transfer leaves more time for the ride itself.
