The Via de la Plata, or Silver Route, offers motorcyclists a journey across Spain from Seville in the south to Gijón in the north. Stretching over 800 kilometres, it follows the direction of a historic connection between the south and north of Roman Hispania. Today, riders can build the trip around the A-66 and N-630 roads.

The scenery changes along the way: Andalusian olive groves give way to Extremadura’s wooded pastures, the central plateau and greener northern valleys. Faster roads cover the distance efficiently, while secondary roads leave more room for scenery and stops. The journey can also be split into shorter sections.

Mérida, with its Roman monuments, and Cáceres, with its historic centre, make worthwhile cultural stops. The route is therefore more than a ride between two endpoints: its character depends on the time given to towns, local roads and breaks between stages.
