Tyre dimensions do not tell the whole story of suitability for a motorcycle. Two tyres with the same width and diameter can have different load indices, and a reinforced version may carry REINF on its sidewall. That difference matters when a motorcycle maker specifies a particular tyre version for a model.
Consider two tyres of the same size: 130/70-12 56P and 130/70-12 62P REINF. The P is the same speed symbol in both, while 62 indicates a higher load capacity than 56. A higher index alone, however, does not decide which version belongs on a particular motorcycle.
Before buying, compare the size as well as the load and speed ratings with the motorcycle maker’s approved specification. The markings are on the tyre sidewall, and the required specification can be checked in the owner’s manual. If several versions appear suitable, a tyre specialist can help establish which one is approved for the bike.
