At the turn of 1950–1951, Winifred Wells rode alone from Perth to Sydney and back. Her own Royal Enfield 350 Bullet carried her 5,504 miles, approximately 8,860 kilometres, in 21 days, crossing the Nullarbor Plain twice.
In September 1952, she set off around Australia with her father. Wells rode a new Bullet; her father used the motorcycle from her earlier journey. Their route included Darwin and the east coast.
They returned to Perth on 26 November after almost 10,000 miles, roughly 16,000 kilometres. The Pardoo Sands proved particularly difficult: deep tracks and heat slowed progress. The journey demanded patience and endurance.
