Visby makes a convenient starting point for a modest ride beyond its medieval walls. Gotland's local visitor guide suggests Högklint, one of the island's higher coastal cliffs, as a destination. Measured from the tourist information office in central Visby, the outward and return journey is about 17 kilometres. That leaves room in the day to stop for the sea view rather than treating the ride as a distance target.
The nature reserve at Högklint looks out towards Visby and the Baltic Sea. There are walking trails along the cliffs, including a route towards the small fishing village of Ygne. That stretch is described as a hike, not an extension of the cycle ride, so the sensible pause is to park the bicycle securely and explore the cliffside on foot.
A short coastal outing still rewards a little planning. Wind, daylight and the time spent at the viewpoint can matter more than the kilometres on the map. For an even shorter option, the same guide suggests the Södra Hällarna nature reserve, around five kilometres there and back from central Visby. Either choice can be matched to the weather and the pace of the riders before setting out.
