Warmshowers connects touring cyclists with people who welcome them into their homes. Formally established in 1993, the community grew from earlier lists of willing hosts. It also lets people meet travellers and exchange experiences without setting off on a trip themselves.
A stay might mean a room, a couch or space for a tent. Hosts need not provide meals or accept every request. They do not charge for the stay; platform registration fees and mobile-app subscriptions are separate conditions to check before joining.
Read profiles and feedback before making contact. Send a short message a few days ahead, explaining your route and expected arrival. Treat the stay as arranged only after confirmation. Let the host know about delays and leave honest feedback afterwards.
Reciprocity need not mean repaying a night immediately. Giving back can mean lending a hand, sharing experience or welcoming another cyclist later. This community is for people travelling by bicycle, and its value lies in the connections between them.
