Yamaha has added the YZF-R2 to its sports motorcycle range for India. Positioned above the YZF-R15, it remains compact in size and engine capacity. It uses a new 204 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine and a steel tube frame.
The smaller displacement does not mean a sparse electronics package. Yamaha lists electronic throttle control, selectable riding modes, traction control and a quickshifter. Those features bring equipment often associated with larger sports motorcycles to a smaller class.
Yamaha plans to manufacture the YZF-R2 in India and announced it there as a 2027 model-year motorcycle. The announcement does not promise European sales. For now, the bike illustrates the R-Series’ development in India rather than a change to showroom choice in Latvia.
