The Green Dune in Ķemeri National Park is no seaside beach. It is a pine-covered ridge of sand left by the ancient Littorina Sea, now bordered by forests and bogs. A route for walkers and cyclists follows this old shoreline. The appeal is the changing landscape, from comparatively dry pine woodland to the surrounding wetlands, rather than a race to cover distance.
The described route starts at the end of Partizānu Street in Ķemeri, crosses the Green Dune to Antiņciems, then returns along the old Antiņciems–Ķemeri road to Robežu Street. That makes it a loop with a different view on the way back. Antiņciems adds a small piece of local history: electricity reached the village only in 1988–1989.
Before setting out, check the current route map and trail conditions, especially after rain. Sandy ground and exposed roots call for an unhurried pace and a bicycle you are comfortable riding on uneven surfaces. Stay on the designated route to protect the dune and nearby wetland. In autumn, allow enough daylight to enjoy the scenery without rushing.
