Cycle route 35 forms a 128-kilometre loop: Krāslava–Tartaks–Naujene–Daugavpils–Elerne–Jaunborne–Veckaplava–Krāslava. Following both banks of the Daugava, it combines urban architecture with the Upper Daugava landscape. Its appeal lies in the stops: churches, castles, a fortress and riverside communities.
The nature park between Krāslava and Naujene contains eight scenic river bends, each 4–6 kilometres long. Add a walk on the Markova educational trail or a visit to the Old Believer village of Slutišķi. The Vasargeliški observation tower overlooks the Rozališķi bend.
Allow time off the bicycle when planning the full loop. For a relaxed trip with sightseeing, consider two days and arrange accommodation ahead. Check the current route and attraction opening hours before setting out; treat walking trails as separate stops.
