A European Parliament committee vote on cleaner corporate vehicles mentions e-bikes and cargo bikes in the proposal’s recitals. They do not appear in its operative legal articles. This remains a stage of the legislative process, not a rule already in force.
The European Cyclists’ Federation and a cycling industry association consider this a limited step. The recital focuses mainly on urban deliveries, while support for employees commuting by company bike has no place in the operative provisions. The organisations want national plans to be able to account for cargo bikes and company bike support schemes.
Further negotiations will determine whether bicycles gain a practical role in corporate mobility policy. For now, the committee text acknowledges their potential contribution but leaves the means of implementation open.
