The Netherlands sold 795,968 new bicycles in 2025, 7% fewer than a year earlier. Total revenue fell by just 1.3% to €1.53 billion. The gap between units and revenue is the year’s clearest market signal: a decline in purchases did not translate into an equally steep drop in spending.

E-bikes accounted for 391,318 sales, or 49% of new bicycles, but generated 73% of revenue. Their sales volume fell by 4%, while the average price rose by 6% to €2,872. The figures show how strongly the mix of higher-priced bicycles can influence total turnover even as fewer bikes are sold.

More than two-thirds of new bicycles were sold through specialist shops, which generated 82% of industry revenue. Online sales reached 158,069 bicycles, down 5% from 2024. These figures describe the Dutch market, not Latvia’s; they reveal the structure of one mature bicycle market but do not, by themselves, predict prices or demand elsewhere.
