Published on 24 September, the EuroVelo development report establishes a new baseline. Of a network exceeding 92,500 kilometres, 60% is fully developed and 82% is at least partially developed. The second figure includes the first group; the percentages should not be added together. EuroVelo signs cover 46% of the network across 26 countries.

The key change is a shared assessment of route continuity, motor traffic and surface quality. Previously, countries used their own standards. The 69% reported for 2025 and this year’s 60% therefore cannot be compared directly or taken alone as evidence of deteriorating infrastructure.

For trip planning, examine individual sections. A developed route can be a quiet rural road as well as a segregated cycleway. Partially developed sections may involve heavier traffic or rougher surfaces. The map categories distinguish signage from riding conditions, so a route number alone does not describe the road ahead.
